What is Artificial Intelligence?

You guys know Artificial intelligence is buzz words these days and Actually, for the past several years AI helped us a lot. From 2000 to 2010, there was a boom of AI products for domestic use. AI implemented in toys, vacuum cleaners (Roomba), robots, cars, etc. Those were the years when the mass adoption of AI begun.

I started to search what is Artificial intelligence and what exactly it means.

As I found AI is a very broad topic and for understanding it better, we need to know what Intelligence mean at the beginning.

What is Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the creation of intelligent machines or implement an Application that works and reacts like humans.

Wikipedia definition: Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.

By the Collins English Dictionary, it is ‘the ability to think, reason, and understand instead of doing things automatically or by instinct.’

By the Macmillan Dictionary, it is ‘the ability to understand and think about things, and to gain and use knowledge.

What is AI?

Now we know what Intelligence mean and we can talk about Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the creation of intelligent machines or implement an Application that works and reacts like humans.

These are some activities which AI Applications can do:

Speech recognition

Natural language programming

Learning

Planning

Problem-solving

Different type of AI

There are two different types of AI:

1. Narrow AI:

It can perform only one specific task. like Spam filtering, Recommend new item on Amazon and…

2. Global AI or Strong AI:

It can be able to learn and do everything humans can do.

AI statistics for 2019:

These days a lot of company start to use AI and that is fundamental to lots of startups. The starting companies developing AI increased by 1400% from 2000 to 2017.

Artificial Intelligence future is bright and Statistics show AI market will increase 154% in 2019. It is expected to grow by more than 120%-140% each year until 2025.

AI-powered device or service uses by 77% of the world’s population, only 33% of them are aware of this.

Most of us fear from AI and some of us think AI will overtake people jobs but this Gartner article says this idea is not completely true. AI will eliminate 1.8 million jobs, but also create 2.3 million jobs by 2020.

Conclusion:

AI can boost the global economy as the steam engine did.

AI can help us in lots of areas. Based on experiments AI is one of the biggest buzzwords on the business market. These days lot’s of companies use AI to create more value for their customers. If companies, governments or … organizations want to produce more value they need to use AI in their processes.
